Happy Birthday, Mall of America!

I got a text from my wife this morning that the Mall of America was celebrating its 24th birthday and that the boys and I could enjoy a free birthday cupcake there this afternoon.  I asked the boys if they wanted to go (they did) and we made an afternoon of it.  Honestly, there was only one bad part of the whole outing – the Backyardigans Swings ride no longer has two seater swings, only one seater swings, so Joel (who is under 48″) watched with tears in his eyes while Paul (who is over 48″) rode.  I was in a tough spot – it didn’t seem fair to Joel that he couldn’t ride when he used to be able to ride with a chaperone, and it wouldn’t seem fair to Paul that he couldn’t ride since Joel couldn’t ride – but it worked out.  Joel later told me that the orange roller coaster is his favorite ride there.  Four down, eleven (or seventeen) to go.
