The first day of school is three weeks from today. I feel like my wife and I have done a good job of filling the kids’ calendars so far this summer, but there is nothing scheduled Monday to Friday for the next three weeks for the boys. Our older son, who turns 6 later this month, insisted on going somewhere he hadn’t gone before. This turns into a roll of the dice of sorts, since there is a “need” for something different but an expectation of what said different thing will be. Our older son wanted to go somewhere with deep enough water for him to swim. Our younger son, who is 4 1/2, wanted to go somewhere with a splash pad. A quick Google search found North Mississippi Regional Park. And…the pool was closed for maintenance. At least the playground was open. One down, fourteen (or twenty) to go.
