Spain vs Czech Republic. Red jerseys with yellow accents, blue shorts with yellow accents, and *navy* blue socks? This is one thing that has bugged me about Spain’s kits over the past ten years. 2006 and 2007 – red and blue with yellow accents. 2008 and 2009 – red and navy blue with yellow accents. 2010 and 2011 – back to blue. 2012 and 2013 – back to navy blue. Just pick a shade of blue already. Czech Republic looks good in white with blue trim and red accents, but not good enough to save this one. Grade: B-.
Ireland vs Sweden. Ireland looks fantastic in green jerseys, white shorts, and green socks, all trimmed in orange. Sweden looks fantastic in yellow jerseys with blue accents, blue shorts with yellow accents, and yellow socks with blue accents. Have I mentioned that this looks fantastic? Grade: A+.
Belgium vs Italy. Belgium’s kits, with their mashup of black, red, and what looks like neon yellow remind me of the Atlanta Hawks. I’m trying to decide if that’s a good thing. Italy’s kits scream, “Our country’s colors are green, white, and red and our soccer team’s color is blue, so let’s throw them together and see how it looks.” This isn’t a great looking match, but it isn’t a terrible looking match. Grade: B.
